53 year old guy with Cerebral Palsy in Bristol - struggling - looking for advice on CE

Hello friends,

Name is John, I am a guy with CP who is Married to an able bod and have two lovely daughters aged 11 and 8. I use a power chair; in the last year or so I really seem to have hit a brick wall both physically and Mentally. I was not offered CE as a child but have this sense that it is one of the few things that might help me now. I anyone has any advice on how I might best access CE I would be indebted to you.

Thanks

John W

The best way to access

The best way to access Conductive Education in England is through the National Institute for Conductive Education in Birmingham. They will be able to offer you all the information you require to discover where the nearest centre is to your home and what opportunities there are available to you.

I am British and I work as a conductor in Germany where I offer courses for adults and children at different centres and also blocks and individual sessions to clients in their homes. I believe that Conductive Education is offered in much the same way in many centres throughout  England. Here are a few addresses which I hope will be helpful to you.

Bristol has always been a bit

Bristol has always been a bit of a black hole as far as Conductive Education goes, I don't know why.

Here are a few suggestions abut finding some form of input from a conductor..

Conductive Therapy Cheltenham. This is about as near to you as I can get. Formally it's for people with Parkinson's or MS but talk to Mary Marston (01242 230420) about whether there's some way of fitting you in. Sorry, no website.

Conductive Education Support Services Ltd. This operates out of the New Forest but its on-the-ground operations stretch at least as far as Devon and might take in Bristol on the way. Contact Judit Szatmary at 0)590 622929 . Website: http://www.conductive-educationsupport.com

Path for the Disabled. This operates out of Exeter. It certainly serves people who have had a stroke and may be able to offer help to you too. Contact Erzsebet Gordon at 01392 819646. Website: http://pathforthedisabled.co.uk/default.aspx

If you don't fancy the expense and trouble of travelling, then a new possibility is now being tested, personal advice and consutancy via the Internet. I only know of one fsuch service for sure as yet, contact Susie Mallett at small66711@aol.com. Website: www.konduktorin.blogspot.com

All the above provide services for adults. There may be more. The world of CE is changing fast. Keep in touch with it through www.conductive-world.info.

Hope that helps,
